Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Not a great game, but we won it without really trying.

Positives:
Central Defense looked very strong, especially Tomkins.
RB and LB looked good coming forward and never beaten.
Sakho and Valenica never stopped running. So refreshing to have movement in the team. Sakho looks and absolute steal.
Downing again looked very good.

QPR reminded me of us a couple of few seasons ago. A lot of has beens and foreign players who don't want to be there. How Fer cost 10m I have no idea, such a lazy player. Also, I don't think Harry will be there much longer and Hoddle is primed to take over.

Tricky Trev 12:07 I also thought that Amalfitano played really well. He was very tidy in possession and worked really hard for the team!

Eerie, step up Graham Poll and Jimmy Floyd at Chelsea

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Talking of rule change, I have never understood why the attacking team are not allowed to take a quick free kick at their discretion.

You are on the attack, a defender cynically takes a player out, thus taking away an advantage, yet the ref stops them having a real advantage, and let’s the offending player and his team mates re-organise themselves. Seriously, where is the sense in that?

If the ref wants to book the player, then remember who it is, and book them once the play has stopped.

I've forwarded your suggestions on to Sir Trev. Hopefully he can influence someone somewhere.

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
I'd like to see a complete rule change that says if they mess up like that, fuck them. I think we should get a free kick inside the area where the defender touches it before it leaves the area, rather than let them retake it.

Also, while I'm cleaning things up, extra time = 2 extra subs.

What should the ref have done RON?

i-Ron 4:35 Mon Oct 6
Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
MINGolet gave the ball to Lovren the other week and it hadn't left the area

The ref left them retake it

How is that fair?

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Even allowing for all that, Rob Green was a plum, kicking it straight to our player

Weird rule.

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Never understood that bit, it's a free kick not a goal kick

Law 13 - Free Kicks
Free kick inside the penalty area
Direct or indirect free kick to the defending team:
• all opponents must be at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball
• all opponents must remain outside the penalty area until the ball is in play
• the ball is in play when it is kicked directly out of the penalty area
• a free kick awarded in the goal area may be taken from any point inside
that area

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
It's a rule that I wasn't aware of but yes a free kick in the box has to go out the area the same way a goal kick does

and he was not ten yards away anyway

Eddie B 4:09 Mon Oct 6
Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
FC, that's the reason yeah, but the commentators also said that he should've been outside the area, so even if the was over 10 yards away, but STILL in the area, it woudn't have stood.

Far Cough 4:07 Mon Oct 6
Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
In my view the ref disallowed it because he wasn't ten yards away?

Correct call

Eddie B 4:06 Mon Oct 6
Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
If it's a free kick, why should everyone have to be out of the area?

13 Brentford Rd 4:04 Mon Oct 6
Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Still haven't seen it but commentators on radio said it was a close call, Hartson who was co commentating said it should have stood.
Also wasn't it a free kick, why would it have to be out of the area if it was a FK?
